Most of us really think that ticks are gross. We really hate ticks. But what we didn't know is that, these creatures that we really hate can contribute something good for us!
Researchers in San Paulo, Brazil claim that these ticks we hate could possibly help cure cancer.
Doctor Ana Marisa Chudzinski-Tavass discovered that the molecule "Ambyomin-X" in the saliva of the tick which apparently can kill cancerous cells.
The said enzyme was injected to rats and rabbits that are infected with cancers of the skin, pancreas, kidneys and lungs. And after a total of 42 days, the results showed that the saliva of the tick successfully reduced the size of tumors without killing off the normal cells.
They've concluded that the saliva of the ticks could possibly be a substitute to chemotherapy.
This treatment could possibly help reduce cancerous cells!
